The old town of Marmaris covers a small hill overlooking the marina.  The narrow pedestrian streets and whitewashed houses are shaded by masses of bougainvillea.  At the summit is an Ottoman castle built in 1522. Marmaris bustles with tourist and yachting activities and at night there are many bars and dance clubs.  If you want a quieter setting for your evening, nearby Turunç and Kümlübük Bays offer many scenic spots for anchorage.
